(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Mark Stone (D-Monterey Bay) and the State Assembly voted to confirm Governor Jerry Brown’s appointment of Xavier Becerra to be the next State Attorney General. Prior to the vote Assemblymember Stone said, a special committee – which he co-chaired – quizzed Congressman Becerra about a wide range of issues and topics, “We found an individual who knows California very, very well. (Sacramento) – Assemblymember David Chiu (D-San Francisco), a member of the Assembly Special Committee on the Office of the Attorney General, voted to recommend that the full Assembly confirm Congressman Xavier Becerra as Attorney General of California. During the hearing Assemblymember Chiu asked Becerra about sanctuary cities, “We’ve heard Donald Trump promise to go after cities and counties, like mine, that have put into place years ago sanctuary policies that would protect immigrants that are fleeing violence and persecution.
