Women’s Caucus Leads Huge Rally for Planned Parenthood

(Sacramento) – The Legislative Women’s Caucus, top legislative leaders, the creator and star of the HBO program “Girls” Lena Dunham and a host of others raised their voices in support of Planned Parenthood during a huge rally dubbed Capitol Pink Out Day 2017 on the steps of the State Capitol. Congressional Republicans have vowed to defund Planned Parenthood. “Defunding Planned Parenthood means denying potentially lifesaving care to millions of men and women,” said Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. “Lawmakers, a majority of them men, are using their elected power to trample on our rights,” declared Women’s Caucus Chair Assemblymember Cristina Garcia. Attorney General Becerra Appointment Confirmed by State Assembly

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Doctor Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) and the State Assembly have voted to confirm Governor Jerry Brown’s appointment of Xavier Becerra to the office of State Attorney General. “I see in him a man who understands the complexities of life,” Doctor Weber said in her remarks prior to the Assembly’s vote. “He’s been through the challenges. He’s been through the war.
